There was a sudden loud BANG! and the Knight Bus appeared, roaring through the streets of London. The triple-decker, violently purple bus swerved through the relatively quiet streets. As it did so, objects seemed to just dash out of the bus' way magically. The driver, Ernie Prang, sat behind the wheel keeping his large wide eyes on the road in front of him. Meanwhile, the always difficult to work with, Brodie Blackwell, sat in the arm chair rooted next to the driver's seat. It was just past midnight, so the night bus had been converted to having rows of beds instead of seats. They only had about a couple of wizards on the bus presently.
Brodie looked disdainfully down at the shabby purple uniform that donned his poor-postured frame. He sighed heavily, removing the matching purple hat that rested on his head and tossing it on the dashboard. He ran his fingers through his dark blonde hair which had come to form the shape of the inside of his hat. He loosened the purple tie around his neck slightly. It had been a long shift. Too long. And in Brodie's opinion they didn't pay him enough to do this sort of thing on these hours. "Oh tired are you?" the driver asked him, pushing his spectacles up his nose. "I'm exhausted," Brodie replied honestly, sitting back in his arm chair. "So tell me, what exactly is it that you do that's so exhausting?" the older man questioned, obviously looking to put an end to all of Brodie's humming and drumming and complaining over his unbelievably easy job.
"Well, putting up with you for one thing, old man," Brodie remarked hotly. The older wizard grumbled some remark about the youth these days and their ungrateful attitude. Brodie was growing tired of his freewheeling life as a Knight Bus Conductor, but he had been out of Hogwarts for over seven years now, and he really didn't think he knew how to do anything else. He had been conducting the Knight Bus since he was eighteen years old, since he had graduated, albeit barely, from Hogwarts. On top of that, improving his career aspirations would require a great deal of effort of which he was certainly not willing to do.
The Knight Bus reached its destination of the two wizards on board, and dropped them off. Brodie feigned a courteous fair well to them, and with a crack the Knight Bus was off again. Somewhere within the streets of London there was a wizard or witch with their wand hand outstretched bidding the presence of the Knight Bus. Brodie reluctantly began waving his wand to clean up the beds that had just been used, before returning his seat next to the driver. The bus suddenly flung to a halt, sending furniture flying against the walls, a commonplace occurrence on the Knight Bus that Brodie hadn't even noticed it anymore, and his body subconsciously dodged furniture so frequently he didn't even realize he was doing it sometimes.
The Knight Bus halted at the person in question who had called for such transportation. Brodie sighed again, retrieved his cap from the dashboard and replaced it atop his head. The driver opened the doors and Brodie leaned his forearm against the wall of the bus as their new passenger, and now only passenger, stepped on board. "Evening... welcome to the Knight Bus..." Brodie said in an incredibly unenthusiastic and lazy voice, as he gave his usually introductory speech, surveying the new passenger with bored and disinterested blue eyes.
