[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] THIS TIME I WON'T SAVE YOU , WHEN YOU DROWN DROWN DROWN , YOU SUN OF A GUN TAGGED FOR: christoph rivers adrienne quinn hart made her way across the hogwarts grounds towards the forbidden forest. she was enjoying a perfectly good evening of torturing a timid seventh year into completing her ancient runes essay, when she was reminded of her detention that evening that she would have to serve in the forbidden forest. it could not have been a worse night, too. dark and grey clouds filled the sky, covering the full moon, and a drizzle began to pour down on her from above. great, now her robes would get soaked. she pulled the hood of her slytherin robes up over her head to shield her chocolate waves from getting flattened. what was dumbledore thinking?! she could practically see a few steps in front of her, let alone go searching through the thickness of the forbidden forest searching for some useless weeds. and all because of christoph winter rivers. she folded her arms close to her body to keep warm, thinking angrily about his toothy grin that had lured her into that duel. it was far too difficult to resist hexing that ignoramus, she thought to herself.
the rain gained a little strength and she quickened her pace. the faster she collected the five weeds they needed, the better. she didn't need christoph, she would do this on her own. like she always preferred to do things. she found herself at the edge of the forest and decided not to wait for christoph. she was a little early, and had no intentions of waiting for him. if everything went her way, she wouldn't even have to see his face tonight. she would slip into the forest early, gather the weeds for detention and return them to the headmaster before christoph could interfere. adrienne peaked around from under her hood at the outskirts of the forest. no sign of him yet that she could see. she hurried into the forest.
the trees provided a little more cover from the rain, but she kept her hood up regardless to protect her locks. the forest floor was muddy and disgusting. within seconds her sneakers were soaked through and had turned the color brown. she decided she'd just clean up once she sought the warm shelter of the castle. right now she had a job to get done before christoph would catch up with her, or worse, had the same plan in mind and would finish gathering the roots before her. as she trudged through the forest she looked avidly around for the weeds she sought, but she couldn't help looking around nervously every few minutes. she was in her seventh year and this was definitely not her first time in the forest, but that didn't mean it didn't scare her. even a big bad slytherin like adrienne was hesitant about being anywhere near the forbidden forest at night. not to mention the full moon looming above. werewolves. she shuddered and pushed the thought out of her mind.
she continued on. luckily, potions was one of adrienne's strong suits. it was always one of her favorite subjects and she was determined that she would be able to spot the fluxweed with ease. it was a common used ingredient in potions class and she even recalled chopping it up before in class. then she spotted it among a bed of shrubs. perfect, that was sooner than she had expected. she looked around again one last time then examined the weed to be sure. yes, this was it. unfortunately, she was forbidden to use magic to gather the plant, and they were always firmly rooted in the ground so that the strength of two or more people would be necessary to more easily uproot the fluxweed. adrienne was convinced she didn't need anyone and she could handle this herself. she was a strong, fit, quidditch captain and she believed her own strength was plenty. she didn't need the help of that pansy, christoph, she thought.
she leaned forward and began to yank at the plant. damn, this was more difficult than she expected. she pulled and pulled, her full concentration on the task at hand. then she suddenly spotted a nest a spider eggs woven within the shrubs. her eyes widened. oh god. this was worse than a werewolf. her greatest fear. spiders. her whole body shivered. just back away slowly, she told herself. she could hex them away then get back to the fluxweed. then, suddenly, she felt a creepy crawly sensation on her shoulder she turned and screamed at the top of her lungs.

ooc: Holy crap, you really wrote an eyeful there. Very nice. However, I thought we was going to keep this one short and sweet. You, my dear, are going to put me to shame in this thread. Or, was this your intention all along? Bad Headmaster! Bad, bad! I jest, of course. Okay, well then... shall we get to it? (I apologize in advance for Winter's thoughts of her.)
Detention, for one thing, was not something he minded or was even unfamiliar with. He had his fair share for various school infractions throughout his career as a student. Often it was for not doing an assignment, or even for ignore instructions. Rarely did he get caught out of bounds when he was sneaking around at night. But this detention was not one he was looking forward to in the least. Adrienne, if she had not made so much racket they would never be spending this time together. If Winter hadn't known better, he would have thought this was her intentions all along. She had been acting odd lately. Well, more odd than she normally acted. Maybe she was finally hitting puberty, and noticing boys for more than just target practice? Maybe she was a lesbian? Nothing wrong with that really, hell if she found a nice lover maybe she wouldn't be such a bitch. He would prefer her being a thorn in his side than what she currently was though. Partner? Detention buddy? Winter thought he might wretch.
He tapped his foot in anger as he waited outside the small trail that lead into the woods. He knew she would pull something like this. Probably skipping detention in order to get him in more trouble. He tried hard to think if she had been around the common room, and realized he hadn't seen her since breakfast. He tapped his chin and tried to recall if anyone had mentioned her in passing. No one had. Where could she be? Why was he concerned? Well, for one thing if she didn't show up they would both be in serious trouble. Dumbledore might even send them to more detentions together, and Winter certainly cared about that. However, it was really unlike her to not show up at any chance to prove herself better than him. Unless.
"Damn!" The crazy loon is going to try to do this alone, and leave him as the sole troublemaker that never showed up. He should have known, after all he had had the same damn thought the night Dumbledore caught them in the hallway in the middle of the busted glass. He pulled out his wand and paid attention to the woods for the first time. Sure enough one broken branch the size of a quill showed that something had passed this way. His head ached and he thought of sneaking up on her and jinxing her for putting him through this nonsense. He frowned and started to try to follow her path. It was not too difficult. Apparently she had only passed moments before he showed up to wait on her. She couldn't be much further ahead. No why would she veer off the path like this. Maybe she knew something he didn't.
Winter could only hope this was her path as he turned and passed several smaller trees. The full moon was blocked from sight as he passed a large canopy of trees. With each step deeper into the woods Winter became more angry. He sniffed the air, and sighed. No use going back, he had to find the little diva before she finished this task alone and left him holding the bag. He would get even with her though. Oh yes, he would find some way to torture her with- Winter stopped dead in his tracks and it felt like his blood went to ice. The scream was off to his left, but it pierced him in a way he never expected. He murmured, "Adrienne?" What in the blue hells could make her scream like that. Winter didn't give a second thought before he was brushing through the brush calling her name.
Why he would rush to her like this was beyond him. He couldn't stand the snake in girl's flesh. However, he could never forgive himself if he didn't at least try to find her. Loosing her to whatever made her yell would probably get him expelled from school. He wandered into a line of webs without noticing them, and burst through to a clearing. His wand was at the ready, and his eyes landed on his arch nemesis, and he stopped dead in his tracks. She was standing there screaming her head off with a quarter sized spider trying to crawl off her shoulder. Winter had not laughed in a long, long time. However his lips parted, and he gave out the loudest most eerie sounding laugh anyone could have ever heard. He held his belly and pointed at Adrienne. She had a little spider on her, that was causing her to screech like a banshee? She was afraid of spiders? He almost fell as tears spilled from his eyes.
Winter almost didn't hear the creaking as the larger spider dropped down from the trees behind her. His eyes grew wide, and he looked at Adrienne. He slowly reached his arms out to her, his eyes alternating between her and the large creature starting to move forward them. He motioned with his hands for her to come to him, and he nodded as his eyes dropped back to hers. The spider was only a few feet from the path they were on. His whisper changed into his own yell. "Adrienne? RUN!" [/color][/blockquote]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] THIS TIME I WON'T SAVE YOU , WHEN YOU DROWN DROWN DROWN , YOU SUN OF A GUN TAGGED FOR: christoph rivers
"ew, ew, ew, oh god, ew," she yelped helplessly shaking her entire body around in circles to rid herself of the spider on her shoulder. her hood fell back onto her shoulders as she leaned forward shaking her hair around aimlessly. all she could imagine were a bunch of spiders all getting stuck crawling through her hair. she wanted to vomit. the thought appalled her, but she couldn't help thinking these things when even the slightest appearance of a spider interrupted her life. it had all stemmed from her two older brothers. when she was a little girl, she was constantly trying to practice quidditch with them on the grounds of their lavish mansion estate. so her second eldest brother, the more cunning of the two, came up with an idea to get rid of her company once and for all. one day when she was pouting and throwing a hissy fit to join them, they let her come along. while they passed the quaffle around, her brother turned the ball into an equally sized spider right at the moment that adrienne caught it in her arms. she screamed, not unlike the scream she had just demonstrated, and her brothers' plan worked. she never wanted to play quidditch with them again... until she was old enough to start hexing them for that sort of thing anyway.
adrienne suddenly stopped shaking her hair about and forgot about the spider when she heard a terrible noise. a terrible, awful, irritating noise that she recognized instantly. laughter. but not just anyone's laughter. she slowly looked up, her hair falling like a mop in front of her face. and there was rivers. laughing himself senseless, barely able to keep his balance. she brushed her hair away from her eyes and tried to hide how horrified and embarrassed she had felt inside. dammit, if she hadn't screamed so loud he wouldn't have found her and she could have dealt with her own humiliation privately. she glared at him and placed her hands on her hips. "ha, ha. very funny... that spider was poisonous i'll have you know!" she lied. "a very rare... poisonous... spider that my sharp intellect quickly identified! i almost died!" she insisted. suddenly he stopped laughing. seriously? did he actually just believe her? no, he was just humoring her. "i swear to merlin, rivers, if you tell anyone, ANYONE, about this i will make your life so miserable you're going to wish yo---" she stopped mid-monologue noticing his strange behavior now. what in the hell?
she traced the path of his eyes and looked behind her. "HOLY SH--" her curse was interrupted by his shout to run. she needed no warning! like lightning she took off, bolting behind him as they passed through the uneven earth of the forest. adrienne kept reminding herself; don't look behind you, whatever you do, do... not... look... "AHHHH!!!" she screamed again at the top of her lungs. she had stolen a glance behind herself. she couldn't resist. it was like when someone tells you 'don't think about elephants' and of course the first thing you do is think about elephants. the spider was bloody huge. she could have sworn it was some kind of acromantula. or a baby one at least, but maybe her eyes were playing tricks on her since she was so overwhelmingly terrified. adrienne quickened her pace as though lord voldemort himself was chasing her through the woods. her quidditch playing muscles and strong legs came in handy here surely, but they were no match for the convoluted and foliage filled space that was the forbidden forest. every once in a while a branch would flick towards her, cutting her face.
she gained some speed on christoph then purposely slowed down a little because she spotted a deep ditch up ahead as they ran. it was narrow enough for them to slide into, but the creature behind them was far too wide and enormous to get into the gap. she pointed it out to him, but he already seemed to have spotted it too. adrienne wasn't sure how deep it was, but she prayed she wouldn't break any bones tonight as they reached the edge of it. rivers, who was bringing up the rear, pushed her in first then jumped in after her. adrienne felt the earth disappear from her feet. they fell a considerable distance, then landed hard inside the dirt trench. above them the spider was attempting to stick its legs into the trench to grab them, but could barely get half way down. the trench was about twice as tall as adrienne. she struggled to her feet rubbing her behind. that was going to bruise in the morning. "are you okay?" she called over to rivers. the words were out of her mouth before she had time to stop them. who cared if he was okay? in her mind it was somehow his fault they were in this mess anyway.
