CALLIE SIERRA RIVERS
Callie Sierra had what she considered a normal childhood. She was born on July 4th, the American's Independence Day, to Joseph Rivers and Souzan (nee Finnigan). It all started out normally, Souzan went into labor two days after her 'expected' due date, but by the time the first time parents got to the muggle hospital, Souzan was almost unconscious. An emergency c-section was performed and Callie was brought into this world and just a few minutes later her mother left the world. There was some sort of internal bleeding that was found to late. Joseph was left that night with a newborn daughter to take care of and a funeral to plan.
From her newborn age to around five years old Callie spent a lot of time with her fraternal grandparents. Joseph didn't know exactly what to do with a new baby girl and had expected his wife to be around for the hassle. With her gone, he went back home to his parents to get advice on how to raise a child. Joseph took off of five years of work to make sure he learned the basics of parenting. He took up odd jobs here and there but mostly relied on his parents for just about everything. Once Callie turned five, she was enrolled in a muggle elementary school, to get somewhat of an education and also so her father could go back to work while she was at school.
At the age of seven, while Callie was in recess with the rest of her classmates and friends, one of the boys in class kept knocking over whatever she built. She was just using building blocks but after the third time he knocked it down, she got angry. Callie didn't know this was the little boy's way of showing he liked her but he didn't like her much after when she had him floating up in the middle of the room. Thankfully, only other students saw it so the teacher didn't take any of them seriously. Yet the teacher did call home to tell Callie's father about the strange rumors going around the school. That night her father told her she would have to keep her temper down because she was a witch and would get her Hogwarts letter once she turned eleven.
Callie absolutely loves school. Every day she is amazed with what she has learned with magic and wants to learn everything she possibly can. At the age of thirteen, Callie and her father moved away from her grandparents and got a nice little house in the country. Callie's father quickly got a promotion at work and now travels all over the world being some sort of a wizarding ambassador. Most of the time he's in the United States but she doesn't really care where he is. She loses track of which country he is in and only cares to know when he is home.
At school, Callie has made a wide range of friends but not many can deal with her sarcastic ways and bluntness. The one friend she made right away was her cousin Christoph Rivers. She had never been close to him years before but now she can't go a day without seeing him. There has been some enemies made but she doesn't care about them either. She knows they probably hate her because she was blunt with them. Callie doesn't waste her energy on people who she doesn't care about because she could spend it on more useful things.
At first when Callie came to school she was this shy, little girl who stayed in the corner with her books. Going to a boarding school was weird to her so the first two years she spent mostly to herself and not really getting to know anyone. Then rather quickly she learned she could be herself with them. Some words to describe her are; intelligent, witty, sarcastic, blunt and ambitious. When it comes to grades Callie cares a lot about them. She wants to get far in the world and she knows that she will have to do everything to get taken seriously. She absolutely hates the blonde stereotype so she wants to break it. She definitely hates it when guys and girls automatically think she is dumb or doesn't care about her grades because she is physically attractive.
Callie really loves to have intelligent conversations with people. Yet it seems to her once student leave the classroom, they automatically lose their intelligence. When someone doesn't get what she is saying or she uses 'big words', she mocks them out. She believes they should know by now what she is saying and should be able to hold an intelligent conversation. She can't believe the number of students who don't read The Daily Prophet and don't know what is going on outside of Hogwarts.
When it comes to her friends and relationships, she doesn't go definitely towards one gender. If someone can keep up with her wit and make sarcastic comments back she would definitely keep them around. Callie loves to keep up her wits and bantering exercises with a good partner. Then there comes students who she actually finds attractive. She definitely goes for anyone who is smart and finds that way more attractive than physical features.
If there was one thing everyone should know about Dominique is that she is a night owl. All her homework is usually done between 10pm and 2am. She just can’t seem to fall asleep any earlier than that. It makes it a pain to wake up early for class, but with a nice cup of coffee she is usually ready for the day ahead of her. At Beauxatons since it was going to be her final year there she had more privileges. She would have had a later curfew and could wander around later without getting into trouble. However when she decided to do the exchange program her seventh year she found out that at Hogwarts everyone had the same curfew and the people called Prefects were the only ones allowed to be out late, which she found a bit ridiculous. She was older than almost all of them. And they planned on telling her she was doing something wrong? They better not dare.
Tonight she was still getting used to the sights of Hogwarts and the people around her. It was much different having boys in the same school as her but she wasn’t complaining. However she sometimes did wonder if her ex from a few years ago ended up going to Hogwarts. Dominique hasn’t seen him since she caught him snogging that other girl. If he was here, she couldn’t wait to show him what he has been missing. But she didn’t want to think about that now. Dom left the safety of the Ravenclaw common room and started to roam the castle. It was so much different, colder, than her school. She could see why her family liked it but Dominique much preferred the warmth that her school offered where she didn’t need to wear a robe and slippers to walk around in mid-September.
The walk was enjoyable for her. The only sound she heard was the sound of her feet hitting the hard stone and the even sound of her breathing. It was actually quiet relaxing to know that no one right now was going to bother her. Since coming to Hogwarts she really hasn’t talked to many people except her family and the other exchange students. Well mostly the other girls who decided to come to Hogwarts. Dom has gotten to know a few in the Ravenclaw house but no one that she could say was her friend yet. And she hasn’t been to any parties yet which meant that she really hasn’t flirted or been with a guy. Dom knew that would happen soon enough but for right now she was enjoying the new school. When she turned a corner she saw a staircase that she knew must have gone to an open room because she could already feel the draft. Smiling a bit to herself, she began her way up.
Going up the final steps to the astronomy tower, the temperature lowered as she got closer and closer to open windows and to an endless sky. She pulled her pink silk robe tighter around her body, but it really wouldn’t do any good. It was silk. It was made to look good not make her warm. Same with her pajamas underneath the robe. Most of her clothing served more of the purpose to make her look good, not to keep her warm. Yet once she looked out the window to the clear view of the sky, she completely forgot about the coldness. The scene was breathtaking with all the stars in the sky and not a single cloud. The mountains seemed to reflect in the lake below and she wished she knew how to draw or paint in order to capture this moment.
While looking up at the sky she completely forgot about the world around her. Dominique didn’t even check to see if there was anyone else up there. Her mother started to warn her when she finally hit puberty to always make sure she knew her surroundings. That there were some bad people in this world. However at Beauxbatons, Dom didn’t have to worry about that. She was at an all girl’s school and no one was a threat to her there. At Hogwarts she should start to check the rooms before she went into them. Yet it was late and she expected that no one else was up at this hour. And what were the chances of another student coming up to this tower? Little to none, in her mind. So calming herself down she continued to look at the beautiful landscape before her; her mind wandering off to warmer weather.
