Sirius was sitting on the still green grass of the courtyard, his back against a tree who's flaming leaves decorated the ground around him. He was leafing through a large, leather bound book that he had already read, his mind wandering aimlessly.
He imagined returning home to James' house for Christmas, for his first Christmas since he ran away from that horrid place that he had been forced to call home. The House Of Black on Grimmauld place; A dark, twisted house full of people of the same description. He had hated it there, and he smiled as he realized that this would be the first time that he could look forward to the holidays and enjoy them.
He then thought of Zara. Sirius had never bothered with girls before; He had flirted often, but had never been interested in a relationship. Other girls giggled, and gossiped, and wouldn't ever hold a conversation for the fact the were too busy goggling at him or trying to sound cool, but Zara wasn't like other girls. She was funny, and honest, and kind, and he enjoyed every second with her. He thought back to the last HogsMeade trip, of sitting on the river bank, her hand in his- Sirius was interrupted from his pleasant thoughts by a voice. He had been to deep in his thoughts to notice their approach and jumped slightly at their sudden appearance.

Dromeda had spent most of the day alone, which was pretty usual for her. She'd never been the kind to "hang out." Usually just sticking to herself, today she wandered around the grounds in search for a place to read her book without being interrupted. As she walked, there were a few who stopped and stared, she heard a little bit of murmuring from a couple here and there, hearing her name Black being whispered around. She was definitely the oddest of the Blacks, and the quietest for sure.
Walking down back the river bank, she spotted a familiar face. Smirking slightly, she approached her only decent relative, wondering what in the world he could be thinking about. He had a strange sort of smile on his face, which could only mean one thing. A girl. He was a teenage boy after all, although it was unlike him to be really interested in a girl. But there was a first time for everything. And try as she might, she couldn't think of another cause for that smile.
"Hello, stranger,"
she said smoothly, her tone normal and unreadable. Taking a seat beside him and resting her book on the grass beside her, she watched him as he almost jolted when she spoke. She'd never caught Sirius daydreaming before. Something must be seriously going on here, she thought.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sirius had almost taken her as Bellatrix upon first glancing over his book, the resemblance was uncanny, but his face brightened when he looked up into the face of his favorite cousin. Andromeda had been his only comfort during his dark years on Grimmauld Place, and he had always been comforted by the fact that he wasn't alone in his uniqueness. He grinned at her as she sat next to him, "Hey! How've you been?" he asked, grinning "Those RavenClaw's treating you well?".
The delight of seeing her was almost doubled by the delight of not running into her sister as he had first feared. Though Narcissa was unmistakable, always announcing herself from miles away and strutting everywhere, Bellatrix loved to sneak up on him and bombard him with her snide remarks. Though similar in looks, Dromeda was as different from her sisters as possible, and Sirius was thankful beyond belief for that fact.
"We haven't spoken in too long!" he exclaimed, realizing it had been almost a month. It was a shame they hadn't been in the same house, Sirius would have enjoyed her familiar company during classes, although she would probably kick his butt academically; He was smart, but Dromeda was brilliant.

Honestly, Dromeda couldn't have been more excited to run into him. Of course, you could never be able to tell that by her expression. Because she was raised with a bunch of dark, evil people, it was hard to show much emotion. As a kid if she'd shown her true emotions she would've been punished for not being a purist or thinking cunning, dark thoughts. But she was pretty sure that Sirius knew that she'd be happy to see him, even if there wasn't really much of a smile on her face. Her version of a smile was a little smirk for most people.
And he seemed awfully excited to see him. She was glad he loved her and all, but was he normally this happy? She didn't think so. "Oh, I'm fine,"
she said, although that was hardly ever the case, "And it's not the other Ravenclaws I'm worried about." Sirius was lucky, he'd managed to run away from their dreaded family. But as far as her family knew, she was... almost as dark as they were. At least, she hadn't been blown off the family tree yet like her favorite cousin. Really that was why she hadn't spent much time with him lately. The more time she spent with him, the faster it would be for her to be blown off the wall herself. Not that it mattered much to her, although she would like for her family to love her. And she didn't have a friend to run off and live with like Sirius did. She'd like to at least last out the year before being disowned. Dromeda wished so much that she could be as happy as him, even if his cheery mood was a bit suspicious today. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she smirked slightly, "You're in a good mood today, aren't you?" she said thoughtfully. "Did something unusually good happen recently?" She'd love to hear about something good happening to him. Or something good happening to anyone, really. She needed something to make her smile, or at least something optimistic to think about instead of how int he world she was going to get out from under her family's thumb without being disowned.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Sirius had known Dromeda long enough to recognize the small differences in her face, tone, and body language that indicated her mood, and he was pleased to see that she was happy to see him. Though she may seem quite the contrary to other people, Sirius knew that she was anything but dark, mean, or unpleasant, and the fact that she was still suffering through their demented family pained him; She deserved far better. But he also knew that it was her choice, and he would not push her.
He frowned slightly as she seemed to be mirroring his train of thought, and saying that her housemates were the least of her worries. He was glad that she had escaped the Slytherin house that meant the constant companionship of her sisters. The Ravenclaws seemed like good people, and he was thankful at least for that.
He was about to offer his condolences for their dreadful family when she changed the conversation to a more cheery topic. She seemed to want to hear some good new, and he couldn't blame her; Luckily for both of them, he had some to tell. "Well, I just have the most amazing girlfriend in the world." he said casually, but excitement and joy were laced into his tone. The though of Zara came to his mind once again, and suddenly he couldn't wait to tell his dear cousin about her.

Dromeda wasn't very surprised by his lack of response to her line about the other Ravenclaws. She hadn't really given him enough time to come up with something to say. At least, not to say something happy that didn't involve her sisters or another family member, which she didn't really want to get into right now. She knew that Sirius would prefer she leave her family in the dust, and she planned to... eventually. Just not yet. She'd like to finish off school before getting into horrible family feuds.
Then he mentioned a girlfriend, which caught Dromeda's attention faster than anything had all day. Her eyes lit up a moment as they found him, "Girlfriend?"
she sounded more surprised than she thought she would have. Sirius was of course a rather attractive young man, but she herself would want to avoid his family so much that she would never date him, even if she wasn't his cousin. "Well, you simple must tell me all about her."[/blockquote][/blockquote]
