respect
this one is a no brainer. everyone deserves respect from the admins, to the members, to the guests. no matter what the situation fights will not be tolerated anywhere on the site (out of character of course) but especially not in the c-box. if you're going to have an argument with another member, please pm them and discuss the matter in a mature manner. i can't imagine huge fights breaking out for any reason really, but if there's some kind of discrepancy use your personal messaging, not the boards or chat box!
spam
another very easy rule to follow. double posting is not permitted throughout the site, and especially not in role playing threads. it is totally fine to submit 2 subsequent chat messages in the c-box but try and keep the spam to a minimum, its annoying and no one likes it so try and say all you've got to say in one shot!
activity & accounts
we do not limit the number of characters you wish to make, however, we do ask they you remain active with all of them. although you are allowed as many characters as you wish, they must each be on separate member accounts. we also request that your display name be your character's full name and no screen names what so ever. as you probably know, activity is very important to any site so activity checks will be held every once in a while to filter through registered members who may neglect the site right after register, or have just left the site without notice. this is why it is also important to let us know if your account(s) will be inactive for a while for any reason in the leave of absence board.
graphics
we do hate to be picky, but in order to keep the site neat looking we must ask that all avatars are 150 x 200. if you'd really like a 100 x 100 avatar that is also fine but please choose one or the other, nothing larger, nothing smaller. as far as signatures go we just ask that you do not stretch the width of the boards with your signature. if your signature is stretching the boards it will be removed and you will receive a personal message regarding the size of your signature. we would also like to ask that there is no nudity in your avatars and signatures, nudity in signatures will have you removed and ip banned from the site without question. let's keep it classy, folks!
REMEMBER * YOU MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AND BE ACCEPTED INTO A HOUSE/PROFESSION BEFORE YOU MAY POST ANYWHERE ELSE ON THE SITE OTHER THAN OUT OF CHARACTER BOARDS AND RESERVING BOARDS
literacy
antiquity is a relatively advanced site. this means we ask that your role playing posts consist of at least five hundred words. also PLEASE no chat speak in your role playing, and use correct spelling! all role playing posts should be written from the third person perspective of your character, unless you are explaining the thoughts of your character (and even then this is not recommended).
no god-modeling
god-modeling is under no circumstances acceptable in role plays. god-modeling is when a role player is, essentially, modelling god. basically a god-modeler will over power the role play without giving the person(s) they are role playing with a chance to reply to the action going on. this is an example of god-modeling: Peter stole Adam's wand before he had time to react and cast avada kedavra. Adam died. this is a very basic elementary example of god-modeling, but you get the idea. give the person(s) a chance to reply to what is going on. anyone exhibiting this kind of role playing will receive 1 warning pm and after that they will be deleted and banished without further question.
extensive plots & killing
in order to kill off a character you will need permission from both the headmaster (myself), and the character that you are killing off. in order to kill someone off, a personal message must be sent to the headmaster regarding the plot in which this death with take place. like killing, there are some extensive plots you may want to involve your character in that may effect more than your character, and even all of hogwarts. elaborate plots you may come up with must first be approved by the headmaster before they are played out since they will effect more than just your character!
no perfect characters
perfect characters are not allowed on this site, and if you submit an application with a "perfect" character it will be refused. similarly, if your character begins to take on a perfect personality in role playing you will receive a warning pm from the headmaster. if this continues you will receive a temporary ban from the site, and finally, the third time it persists you will be permanently banished. perfect characters are characters who are seemingly flawless. here is an example: narcissa was an excellent student, she was the top of her class and a prefect. she was also an amazing quidditch player and captain of the quidditch team. she had more friends than anyone, and she was pretty and popular and everyone wanted to be her... this is incredibly irritating to role play with as i'm sure you all know and most of you won't do this.
